Conference Host Chapter Call Announcement

Dear EWB-USA Chapter Members,
The North East Region is looking for  next year’s  2013 EWB Northeast Region Conference Host! The Conference is a big responsibility, but also a chance for your chapter to highlight the work you’re doing and show off your city. Not only that, but the Conference can be a great fundraiser for your chapter and give all your members something to work on throughout the year.

In order to achieve the best possible conference for the Region, there are a few requirements and recommendations for a Host Chapter (this list is geared towards a student chapter application, but professional chapters are encouraged to consider hosting or co-hosting with a student chapter):

  • Guaranteed access to an auditorium which can hold 400 attendees for general sessions
  • Guaranteed access to a space which can seat 400 attendees for meals
  • At least 8 classrooms available for the weekend in which to host breakout sessions
  • Engagement and excitement from your Engineering School and/or University
  • Large number of active, engaged members—Host chapters generally require 50-75 volunteers to run the conference
In addition, there are many aspects of a chapter which will allow the chapter to be highly successful in  planning  and running the Regional Conference. When considering applying to be the Conference Hosts, think about things such as:
  • Accessibility and proximity to the nearest airport
  • Hotel proximity and cost
  • The rules and options for catering on campus

The  formal application will be released in mid-January, so you have time to consider your chapter's strengths and abilities. In the meantime, for more information, please contact NER President Cassie Thiel at president@ewb-northeast.org

We look forward to hearing from you!
